Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has attributed Wout Weghorst’s consistent performances to his impressive fitness levels.
While Weghorst’s playing time has been largely due to Anthony Martial’s injury troubles, Ten Hag has praised the Dutch striker’s physical attributes and persistence on the pitch.
Weghorst, signed in January as a temporary solution in attack, has started 15 consecutive matches and recently ended his goal drought in the Europa League.
Despite missing a few clear opportunities earlier in the game, Weghorst’s close-range finish against Real Betis helped secure a 4-1 win for United.
Ten Hag hails Weghorst’s ability to read the game and focus on putting himself in the right position to finally get his reward.
As United prepares to host Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday, Weghorst and his team will have little time to recover.
