Lancers Open Spring 10th in First Round – Longwood University Athletics

PALM CITY, Fla. – Emma Landis tied for 13th, and Longwood women’s golf finished 10th after one round at the Advantage Golf Partners Collegiate, hosted by UNC Greensboro at the Hammock Creek Golf Club on Sunday afternoon.
 
Landis posted a two-over 74 to lead the Lancer women in the 14 team, and 82 player, field in the first of three days of golf.

NOTABLES:
 
Landis pieced together a solid round by playing consistent golf. She tied for second in the field with 14 pars, and she added a birdie as well. The senior also did not have anything worse than a bogey in her 18 holes.
 
Annabelle Jennings and Ester Choi also had one birdie apiece. Choi added 13 pars, tied for the 10th most in the field.
 
Lauren Sims did not have anything over a bogey on her scorecard.
 
For Martin, it was her second collegiate round after she made her debut in the fall.
 
WHAT THEY SAID:
 
“The team played pretty well, especially considering it was our first tournament of the spring in early February,” said Longwood Head Coach Megan Weaver. “They really executed on staying present and positive. Our up-and-down percentage exceeded our average from the fall, which we’ve really been working on. Hopefully we hit more greens tomorrow!”
 
UP NEXT:
 
The Lancers play the second round of the tournament on Monday before the final round on Tuesday.
