Must read

RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico – The No. 4 ranked Ole Miss men’s golf team opened its spring season on Sunday morning with a 3-under first round score to place the Rebels in 13th place heading to Round Two.
The Rebels began the day with a shotgun start at 6:30 a.m. CT on the Grand Reserve Golf Club and overall made 12 birdies and two eagles through their first 18 holes of the tournament. Ole Miss will look to capitalize on moving day on Monday to improve from its 13th placement.
“A very disappointing start today,” said head coach Chris Malloy. “We did a very poor job of handling any adversity that was thrown our way. We aren’t even halfway done with this tournament and I expect these guys to bounce back and have a great day tomorrow.”
Three Rebels sit tied with each other to lead for Ole Miss. Michael La Sasso, Tom Fischer and individual Collins Trolio all hold tied for 35th at 70 (-2) after their first round on the course. La Sasso made five birdies through day one, including a bogey-free front nine. Fischer’s round was highlighted by a pair of back-to-back birdies on Holes 15 and 16, while freshman Trolio also snagged a pair of consecutive birdies on Holes 2 and 3.
Cameron Tankersley played steady golf, finishing the day even for par. The sophomore made par on 16 holes and made his lone birdie of the day on Hole 5. Tankersley is tied for 54th after Round One.
Both Patton Samuels and Tim Tillmanns made an eagle during their first rounds of competition but were unable to keep their momentum up. Samuels sits tied for 69th at 1-over and Tillmanns tied for 78th at 2-over.
Ole Miss will continue its competition in Rio Grande on Monday morning where it will tee off at 6:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. The Rebels will be paired with South Carolina and Marquette for Round Two.
