Richard “Dickie” Kins, 75, of Wellsburg, WV, passed away November 17, 2023, at Weriton Medical Center, Weirton, WV.

Dickie was born May 25, 1948, in Steubenville, OH, to the late Bobby L. Kins Sr. and Betty Jane Suddoth Kins.

Dickie retired from Ball Corp. where he worked as an electrician. He was a 54-year volunteer for the Wellsburg Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief for 38 years. Dickie was also a member of the Wellsburg Moose Lodge #1554, the American Legion Post #34, the Wellsburg Elks Lodge # 333, and the Sistersville VFW Post 6327.

In addition to his parents, Dickie was preceded in death by his brother Stanley Kins, sister-in-law Judy Kins, daughter-in-law Jennifer Kins, and brother-in-law Bob Burk.

He is survived by the love of his life Anita Pack Kins whom he was married to for 51 years; two sons Edwin “Dutch” Kins, and Adam Kins both of Wellsburg; brother Bob L. Kins Jr. and Wanda of Windsor Heights, WV; three sisters Bonnie Kins, Diana Burk, and Penny James and her husband Bill, and an uncle Jack Kins and his wife Geri; three grandchildren Cody, Corey and Abbi; and several nieces nephews and cousins also survive.

A special thanks also to the Stein family for their loving care for Dickie.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at the Wellsburg Fire Hall, and again Wednesday November 22, 2023, at the Wellsburg Fire Hall from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m., with Pastor Frank Haas officiating. Broken Ladder services will follow. Gravesides services will take place at Franklin Cemetery immediately following with Full Military honors by the OVVMS and The Army Honor Guard.
