Australian cricket veteran Ben Cutting has had an alarming time in hospital after a torrid six-month ordeal.

The 37-year-old allrounder — who played for the Sydney Thunder in the BBL and has represented Australia in One Day Internationals and T20 matches — recently went under the knife after months of dealing with numb legs and severe nerve pain.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, Cutting posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed with tubes in his nose.

“A bad day on the cricket field, still beats a good day being injured,” he wrote.

Although Cutting was giving the thumbs-up in the photo, he went into detail about his recent struggles with various injuries, while also showing the latest scars from surgery.

“The last six months I’ve dealt with numb legs, weak legs, drop foot, severe nerve pain, days where I couldn’t walk, a spinal surgery, and a ruptured plantar fascia,” he said.

“I still rehabbed my arse off and got back on the park and played some good cricket.

“This week capped it off, I went back under the knife, in an effort to play on.

“I am out, but I will be back. 😡”

Cutting is of course married to former model and Channel 7 cricket commentator Erin Holland.

Concerned for her husband, Holland also took to Instagram yesterday to share an update with friends and fans.

“Thank you so much to everyone who’s been asking where/how Ben is,” Holland wrote.

“He’s home from hospital and on the mend already, for good this time!

“It was an unexpected bump in the road, and I’m hurting being away from him at such a time, but thank you endlessly to our wonderful family and friends who are taking care of the reluctant patient 🤍

“He will fine, and back on the park soon. Big love xx.”
